Prof. Dr. Serdar Güler

I was born in 1966. I graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990.

I started my Internal Medicine Specialization in Ankara Training and Research Hospital in 1990 and finished it in 1994. I completed my residency in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases in the same hospital in 1998.

In 2000, I became the Chief Assistant in the Internal Diseases Clinic of Ankara Training and Research Hospital, and the Deputy Chief in 2001. While I received my title of associate professor in 2003, I became a professor in 2012.

In 2003, I was appointed to Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital and established the second clinic in our country, which can provide postgraduate training in Endocrinology and Metabolism diseases under the Ministry of Health. I got my professorship at Hitit University in 2012 and worked as the founding Dean for a while. Simultaneously, I continued to work as the Clinical Education and Administrative Officer in the Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinic of Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital. In December 2016, I left my public job and moved to the private sector. I am still serving my patients in my own practice.

I worked at the Central Ethics Committee, the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Turkey, and the Pharmaceutical Licensing Commission. During my duty as the National Diabetes Coordinator and National Obesity Coordinator, we created our country's Strategic and Action Plans for Diabetes and Obesity. In the 13 years I have been in Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital Endocrinology and Metabolism Diseases Clinic, I have actively participated in many national and international scientific activities as well as providing endocrinology training to 20 internal medicine specialists. Currently, I have over 200 National and International publications.

I have served as a member and board member in non-governmental organizations established in the field of diabetes and Endocrinology, such as the Turkish Diabetes Association, Turkish Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Association, Turkish Diabetes Foundation, and Turkish Diabetes Society.

I am married and have two children.

My special interests are thyroid nodules, thyroid diseases such as Hashimoto (Haşimato) and goitre (guatr)  as well as diabetes (diyabet), endocrine hypertension, diabetes and hypothyroidism in pregnancy, parathyroid diseases, polycystic ovary syndrome, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary gland diseases.
